Osogbo Area Command Police Accused of Conniving With Robbery Suspect to Obtain Osogbo Community at Bolanle Area of Ofatedo.

Osogbo, 14th March, 2025.

The people of Ifesowapo, Bolanle area of Ofatedo have cried out to Governor Ademola Adeleke to help rescue them from the intimidating officers of Nigerian Police: Osogbo Area Command, Oke-Fia who have turned the case of an armed Robbery suspect into a gold mine with which the police from the Area Commander's office has been obtaining residents of the area.

It was on Sunday the 2nd of March, 2025 that an unidentified armed robber broke into about 5 different shops around the Bolanle area of Ofatedo and vigilant members of the community raised alarm about an ongoing robbery in the area.

The community leaders woke up more residents who all gathered and made sure the ring leader of the robbery gang was apprehended. In order to forestall jungle justice, landlords in the area invited Ido-Osun police command to handle the situation.

The suspect was handed over to the police with stolen items recovered from him as exhibits. Unfortunately, the robber was alleged to have insisted that his case be transferred to the Area Commander's office, Oke-Fia which was complied with and shortly after officers from the Area Commander's office invaded Bolanle area and started demanding for N70,000.00 allegedly lost by the robbery suspect after they have forcefully obtained N60,000.00 medical bill for the suspect from the complainants whose goods were stolen by the robbery.

To worsen the situation, the policemen from the Area Commander's office again today invaded the Bolanle area and arrested another set of residents, demanding for N200,000.00 from them. The landlords in the area decided to report the matter to the Osun State Chairman of SUBEB, Hon. Ibukun Fadipe, to help them intervene and take up the matter officially with the state government.

When they got to his house, he was not around but the wife came out and promised to inform the Chairman when he gets back to the house as a stakeholder and a landlord in the area.

It is very unfortunate that police now support criminals against victims of robbery incidents in Osun State and this matter needs to be thoroughly investigated and dealt with according to the law because police are threatening residents that unless they pay back the money the armed robber claimed he lost, they would arrest as many people as possible.
