PRESS RELEASE
ALL ACTIONS TAKEN MUST BE PUT ON HOLD.
We read over the social media the issues that have been generating disharmony within the political space of Osun State and in as much as we understand that we have human right that guarantees freedom of association and freedom of speech we also should not forget that the party has a guiding principle and a constitution.
We also have organs of the party that are saddled with the responsibilities of overseeing the day to day running of the party. Taking into cognizance this fact, we are of the strong opinion that the furore or the crisis that erupted in Osun State is not supposed to come up in any way and should have been handled in a different way and in a different manner.
The National Working Committee of our party has taken Osun and Ekiti as very important states for the party to win future elections and they have tried as much as possible to leave no stone unturned in order to make sure that there is peace in both states and we have to take cognizance of the fact that the National Working Committee has set up a powerful Reconciliation Committee to look into Ekiti and Osun states issues and act accordingly in a way that it will positively affect the fortunes of the party in both states and at the national level, this will however result in winning all future elections.
The National Working Committee has set up a 23-man Reconciliation Committee during its Wednesday 15 December, 2021 meeting to interface with leaders and stakeholders of the party in the two states (Osun and Ekiti) and any action taking after this meeting of 15th December should be put on hold until all matters are resolved.
The composition of the Reconciliation Committee includes H.E. Senator Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP National Chairman as the Committee Chairman with seven members of the NWC as members, the Chairman of the Governors’ forum and their seven members as members of the committee, the PDP Board of Trustees, BoT has seven members in the committee, Senate Minority Leader and House of Representatives minority leader are also members of this Committee.
This powerful committee is to interface with the two states and they have already started with Ekiti which is now yielding results .
It is surprising however, that after this committee has already started its assignment of making peace and working towards ensuring that the party wins elections in the two states, this crisis started, we are therefore at the zonal level instructing that every action taken after the composition of the 23 Man Reconciliation Committee headed by H.E. Dr Iyorchia Ayu the National Chairman on the 15th December, 2021 by the two sides should be put on hold pending the National Working Committee and the Reconciliation Committee saddled with the responsibility of interfacing with the two states and all factions and groups in the two states conclude their assignments.
We use this medium to thank the stakeholders and leadership of the party in Ekiti for their understanding and what they have done so far, they have been meeting and fashioning out ways that there could be peace and we could win Ekiti and we hope Osun State will also follow suit.
Thank you.
(Signed)
H.E. Hon. Olasoji Adagunodo
